the pau pau story.

our story

born in a mom-and-pop shop.

Pau Pau Sushi is the latest sushi concept in the Sushi Kabar family. In 2011, Sushi Kabar embarked on a mission to create win-win-win opportunities for sushi chefs, grocery stores, and our customers. Our singular focus on fulfilling this mission catalyzed Kabar’s growth across the United States and expanded our partnerships into leading organizations in the Corporate Dining, Grocery, Healthcare (Hospitals), and Higher Education categories.

But, Sushi Kabar isn’t the product of a large corporate conglomerate. We started out in a family-owned market in Royal Oak, MI. We cut our teeth on the ins and outs of what it would take to meet the needs of the independent retailer and their unique customers.

From our humble beginnings, we’ve kept that small business, customized, face-to-face approach as we’ve expanded to XXX locations across the United States.

We only partner with unique, independent retailers who seek personal service, open and frequent communication, and a retail revenue share that increases as revenues grow.

If that’s you, let’s talk!

our sustainability commitment

doing what is right.

Sustainable sourcing practices enable us to consistently deliver fresh made sushi while protecting and improving the natural environment and livelihoods of local communities. Our commitment to sustainably sourced seafood products helps fishing communities improve how they manage their resources, increasing both yield and quality of fish stock over time.

We will never knowingly buy illegal seafood. We work with reputable suppliers who only purchase products for us with the appropriate legal paperwork.

We make purchase and sales decisions based on social, ecological, and economic considerations.

Suppliers are selected and monitored based on demonstration of continuous improvement in the sustainability of their operations.

We do not do business with suppliers who cannot fulfill their ethical and or sustainability responsibilities.
